According to WalletHub’s “2016’s Best & Worst Cities for Driving” report, Lubbock is the fourth best city in Texas and 12th best city in the U.S. for driving. These rankings were based on evaluations of 100 large American cities.
“WalletHub’s number crunchers compared the 100 most populated cities across 21 key metrics to identify the best for drivers,” the site explains. “Our data set ranges from average gas prices to average annual hours of traffic delays to number of auto-repair shops per capita.”
Of all the metrics included in the report, Lubbock performed best in the traffic category. In fact, of the 100 biggest cities in the country, Lubbock has the lowest average annual hours of traffic delays, according to WalletHub. Other U.S. cities with minimal traffic delays include Stockton, California, and Laredo, Texas.
Lubbock also performed well in the gas prices metric, ranking second in the nation for lowest average gas prices. Tulsa, Oklahoma, claimed the #1 spot. Other Texas cities with cheap gas prices include Corpus Christi, Laredo, and San Antonio.
